Welcome to Elizabeth Street: Batsheva Hay

Creator of Batsheva (166 Elizabeth Street)

Lawyer turned Fashion entrepreneur, Batsheva Hay is known for her modern twist on traditional dressing (think #Victorien meets #Punk), which has been seen on everyone from Ella Emhoff at the Biden Presidential inauguration, to Sarah Jessica Parker on “And Just Like That.”

Batsheva began designing dresses from vintage fabrics in New York City’s Garment District. They made their way into the Vogue offices, garnering the attention of Anna Wintour. This led to Batsheva being named a finalist for the prestigious CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund not once, but twice.

Batsheva’s brand is known for eschewing Fashion norms. For her Fall 2024 collection, she walked only models over the age of 40, including friends of the brand and captivating women she met on the subway.

For Spring 2025, Batsheva made Elizabeth Street her New York Fashion Week runway. It was a moment straight out of the movies, with every major fashion editor standing in the crowd as Batsheva’s VIP clients modelled her designs.
