This article details the enchanting wedding of gallerist Rose Easton and artist Liam Newnham, a celebration of artistic flair and sophisticated style that we are honoured to have been a part of.
The wedding, inspired by Peter Greenaway’s 1989 film The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover, was a visual and sartorial feast. Rose Easton, known for her deep ties in the fashion and art worlds, orchestrated an event that seamlessly merged these two realms. With bespoke creations from friends and designers like Phoebe English and Molly Goddard, the wedding was a testament to the power of collaborative artistry.
The Groom’s Suit: A Beggars Run Masterpiece
Our role in this spectacular affair was the creation of the groom’s suit, a task entrusted to Edward Hussey of Beggars Run. Liam Newnham’s suit was designed to echo the wedding’s blend of classic and contemporary elements. Crafted with precision and care, the suit featured deep, rich tones and a sophisticated silhouette, making it the perfect complement to the visually rich and meticulously curated wedding setting.
Embracing the Season’s Textures
In keeping with the wedding’s theme, our design for Liam’s suit embraced a more subtle, textured aesthetic. Drawing on our recent collection, which includes new suitings with fabrics from esteemed British and Irish mills such as Dormeuil and Fox Brothers we created a suit that embodied both elegance and resilience. The use of supple yet lush fabrics provided a tactile richness that aligned beautifully with the darker, crisper weather of the season.
A Visual Spectacle
The wedding itself was an orchestrated visual spectacle. Guests were treated to a surprise-filled day that started at the 17th-century St Stephen Walbrook church and continued with a reception aboard a 19th-century Mississippi paddle steamer. The journey ended in the grand Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College, where guests dined at long banqueting tables adorned with dramatic floral sculptures and radicchio towers, all in keeping with the couple’s vision of a cinematic and visually arresting event.

Beggars Run’s contribution to this incredible day was a suit that not only fit the groom perfectly but also aligned with the couple’s artistic vision.
