Our Story
A story can have many beginnings and many endings, they say - But for the sake of simplicity let’s go with this one.
One of our protagonists, Cian, spent his early years on a rock in West Cork, then amazingly, banished at the age of four to the infernal Connaught - Sligeach. Here he spent his formative years, and let us warn you - in this part of the Irish Wild West, deviating from the herd was seen as having “notions” and was a risk, especially for a timid lad. But, with clothes being his primary source of expression, it was a necessary gamble. So, the the odd puck in the head may have been received, but was worth it. Nevertheless, it was just a matter of time till the Big Smoke came calling.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the Aul Sod, Baile Átha Cliath, a young Eddie made a second home of the charity shops of Camden Street, snaffling as much tailoring as his pocket would allow. Some beauties still remain in his wardrobe. But the thirst for more was strong and it was just a matter of time till the Big Smoke came calling.
The Big Smoke proved a blast. Alas, suits made with more interesting fabrics that didn’t cost the world, remained a scarcity. Something had to be done. Cian responded by founding Beggars Run in 2010. Starting off on the 2nd floor of an East End boozer, Beggars Run took shape. Hot on his heels Eddie soon joined the fold as BR became a duo.
Year by year we strive to provide beautiful craftsmanship, quality garments and interesting ideas, all served with love, enthusiasm and cheer.
